Before we get too far into the elements let's think more about editing.
Some artists just copy what they see with no concern about how many and where things are placed in the picture. Great artists always feel free to add things, remove things, re-locate things and sometimes even change the colors and shapes of things.
We have an intuitive right brain which wants to help us make better art. We have to learn how to trust our right brain to come up with some great ideas. Very often the first idea that comes to mind is the best idea. It does not help to judge the idea and ponder over it too much. It is more likely to be something wonderful if we just "go" with it.
So feel free to use your "artistic license". You now have "permission" to do just that!
Next we will consider examples of improved paintings.
